Turn It Up: The Power of Music to Boost Creativity and Productivity

As a professional photographer, I often find myself immersed in studio work, where creativity and productivity are essential. One of the most powerful tools in my arsenal to enhance both is music. Whether it's the uplifting beats of Toby Mac, the soulful tunes of Eric Church, or the classic charm of the Rat Pack, music has a transformative effect on my work.

The Science Behind Music and Productivity

Studies have shown that listening to music can significantly impact our productivity and creativity. According to research from the University of Windsor, music can improve mood and increase productivity. In this study, participants who listened to music completed their tasks more quickly and came up with better ideas than those who worked in silence.

Another study from Stanford University found that music engages different areas of the brain, which can lead to improved focus and enhanced creativity. When we're in the zone with our favorite tunes, our brains are more likely to enter a state of flow, where we lose track of time and our work feels almost effortless.

My Personal Playlist

In my studio, you'll find an eclectic mix of artists ranging from Toby Mac and Eric Church to Miranda Lambert and King & Country. I also love turning up the volume for the Rat Pack, Elvis, J-Lo, and Pitbull. Each of these artists brings a unique vibe to my workspace, helping me tap into different aspects of my creativity. I've curated special playlists on Spotify and Pandora that keep me inspired and energized throughout my sessions. If you'd like to take a look, here are links to them. A few of my favorites:

Still Rolling Stones: Lauren Daigle

Feel It: Toby Mac

Hear Me Now: Alok, Zeeba & Bruno Martini

Walk Me Home: Pink

Hold Me Closer: Elton John & Britney Spears

Y'all Means All: Miranda Lambert

One Too Many: Keith Urban & Pink

Doing Life With Me: Eric Church

Love & Hate: Michael Kiwanuka

A Call to Action: Create Your Playlist

No matter your profession, I encourage you to create your playlist. Whether you're working, cleaning the house, doing yard work, or going for a walk, music can uplift your spirits and enhance your performance. Music is good for the soul, and it's a simple yet effective way to bring more joy and productivity into your daily routine.

So, turn up the volume, feel the rhythm, and let the music guide you to new heights of creativity and productivity!

Thanks for joining me! If you have a favorite song or playlist, please comment! I always want to grow my list. Have a great week and stay cool! It will be a hot one here this week in the #PNW!

Stay creative and keep the music playing!
